My whole reason for painting is to capture special people, places and memories in a fine art original oil. What better way than to work with my collector directly on their special memory?   

 The idea of commissioning a painting can seem daunting, but it needn’t be. My process is simple and straightforward.   

 1.     Let me know you want a commission. Email, phone, facetime, text, direct message on social media – whatever works. 

 2.     We’ll have a conversation to discuss subject, size, budget and deadlines. 

3.     If we decide to use your photo(s) as reference, you’ll email the photos to me. 

4.     I work up a sketch/study for your approval and send it to you. 

5.     You approve the sketch, pay your deposit of 50%, and I go to work. 

6.     When it’s done, you pay the 50% balance, sales tax and shipping, and I ship it to you.   

 That’s how simple it is.   

What does a commission cost?

 In general, the cost is the same as any other original painting of equal size – see the chart below:

Note - these pricing guidelines are meant to provide a reference point. Each commission price will be subject to variables such as delivery deadline, framing options, included portraits, etc. As you consider a commission, these prices are 'safe' for planning purposes.

Commissions often include 1 or more portraits. There is a surcharge of $50 per face for portraits.   

 A note about reference photos: ·       

5-6 good photos help me capture the character of the commission. They should be reasonably high resolution photos (1-2 meg) I need to be able to see some detail and my old grampa eyes can only squint down so far. ·       

They should be photos you have taken. ·       

NO SCHOOL PHOTOS ·       

NO FAMILY PORTRAITS or family photo sessions ·       

NO STUDIO PORTRAITS. ·       

If we are capturing people, family members (children, grandchildren, parents, etc) candid shots work best. ·       

Photos that show personality ·       

Photos that trigger a memory ·       

Photos that make you smile.   

 My open window for new commissions tends to close pretty quickly each year, especially with many folks wanting that special painting in time for Christmas. If you have a special date or deadline, please reach out sooner than later. I paint faster than many, but there are limits!

Little Faces Project 

As an Artist, I have the freedom to explore things that I find interesting, or challenging, or even provocative. I choose to focus on things that I find beautiful, interesting, intriguing, quirky, worthy, as well as unexpected, unpredictable, honest, positive, uplifting. Happy memories of special people places and things. My Little Faces project is a special case commission, A 12x12 inch portrait of your children or grandchildren. I have been doing protraits of children for a long time and I love it.  Sometimes it's on vacation at the lake, or the beach or the ranch. One especially fun idea was a collector who had each of their 5 kids painted at the same age - five little five-year-old faces. Sometimes these little faces are too adorable not to paint, don't you think?

• Each portrait is 12 X 12 inches  
• 1 face per portrait is included, additional faces in the same painting are extra.        
• Oil on panel - no frame needed ·     
• Ships with raised mount and wire, ready to hang (you provide the nail, and the wall)$300 each. ·     
• Discount of 25% for portraits 2-5 in the same order.  

The same photo rules apply as for any commission.
