Why I paint what I paint

As an artist, I am always changing, hopefully growing and evolving. I paint my experiences, my history, my thoughts and emotions. I love to experiment with media, styles and subject matter. You'll see in my current work representations of the American West, the cowboys and their regalia, the animals both wild and domestic, and the people who occupy the grandeur of the landscape. But you'll also see the laughing faces of grandchildren, and strangers in the marketplace, and neighbors. Sometimes I wander down some unfamiliar path in either media, style or subject matter. The art is as much about the process as the product, as much thought and emotion as painting. I find it difficult to stay in one lane. My life has been filled with smiling faces, open vistas, long horizons, challenges, support and encouragement. I feel compelled to give back, and I believe I can best do that as an artist. I hope to inspire, remind, encourage and comfort those who share my journey.
